For a magical Christmas Wonderland, visit the Winter Light Spectacular at the Lehigh Valley Zoo.  From mid-November through December, the zoo is transformed into a winter wonderland.  Over 1.2 million lights are used to decorate the ½ mile loop around the zoo.  Other than one slight downhill grade and one slight uphill grade, the rest of the paved loop is wide and flat so there is plenty of room for strollers or wheelchairs, making this a great extended family Christmas activity.

Along the way you will find a variety of experiences.  There is a stage with nightly princess visits.  There are several huts selling warm drinks and snacks.  There are fire pits and patio heaters if you need to warm up.  There are tons of photo opportunities.  You can sit on benches surrounded by lights, in a carriage of lights, or with a Santa figurine.  You can also stick your head in one of the many face-in-the hole photo opportunities throughout the zoo.  Toward the end of the loop you can get pictures with Santa (for an additional fee).

There were lights that looked like flowers opening and closing.  The trees were covered in lights.  There were lights that looked like candy canes and others that looked like snowflakes.  There were two magical tunnels of lights to walk through.

The Winter Light Spectacular requires timed entry tickets, although once you are in, you may stay as long as you would like.  Tickets do sell out, especially on the weekends so you should purchase them in advance.  I would also suggest you download or screenshot your tickets, as cell reception at the zoo can be weak or spotty so you may not be able to pull up your tickets online once you arrive.

My Takeaway

I loved our experience at the Winter Light Spectacular at the Lehigh Valley Zoo.  It was magical walking around all the lights and nature enhanced the experience by providing a light snowfall during our visit.  I would highly recommend the Winter Light Spectacular at the Lehigh Valley Zoo.  It is one of the best walk-through Christmas light experiences in eastern Pennsylvania.
